In celebration of that, I'm... discontinuing the "birthday card" custom. I'm feeling increasingly uncomfortable with using images that aren't mine (or public domain) for them. As I do not have a large enough collection of original or public domain pictures for everybody's specific interests or tastes - often enough, it's hard enough to even google-pilfer suitable images! - I won't do birthday cards anymore. I know, everybody else does it, and that's great. But I won't. Although there may be exceptions, I don't know. Or maybe I'll think of something different, by and by. At any rate, please don't take it as a degradation of your person and/or birthday if you don't happen to get a nifty graphic along with my well-wishes.
