(or maybe not?) FRIENDSLIST, I AM DISAPPOINTED IN YOU!

There's a new Star Wars (prequel sequel) teaser out, and I have to learn about it from OUR LOCAL NEWSPAPER rather than my fellow fannish contacts? For shame! I'm living under a rock, but what's everyone else doing? Where aaare you?!

I... quite like the look of it, I have to say. TALK TO ME ABOUT THIS!

LOL I only saw it this morning myself, usually the flist is faster for me, too. I'm not so sure yet, so far I have too many "let's make money out of this merchandise" feelings - but I'm ready to be convinced otherwise!

I didn't really expect Disney to buy the franchise just in order to archive it. Don't know what's wrong with making money out of it, as long as it results in good entertainment that - ideally - feels more like the original trilogy than the prequels... ;)

I find the set-up quite interesting, to be honest! So are we going to learn about all those Bothans who laid down their lives to give us these plans? :D

I don't think it'll involve the Bothans; I think it's set before ANH and about the people who're getting the first Death Star plans to Leia. The Rebel base looks like Yavin IV.

True that. I was getting me timelines mixed up!

It looks good :)
There is speculation already that this is actually about Reys heritage as well ...

So far, I've only seen speculation that it might be about Poe's heritage...
Haha, maybe it's about both! It wouldn't be the first SURPRISE!pair of siblings in Star Wars... XD

I was saving up this for a post sometime this weekend 'cause I figured everyone had already heard about it. Anyway…

Before I saw it, I was of the "eh, it's SW; I'll go see it, but Disney's milking the cash cow" camp. Now I'm of the "is it December yet?!" camp. It looks utterly fantastic, though I am having a bit of trouble with the AT-ATs in palm trees rather than snow or decidiuous forest. And that it's about side characters in side stories to the OT is something I'm loving.

I hadn't! ;_; But you can still make your post!

I found the AT-ATs confusing too, but I guess they're just putting the "All-terrain" back into AT... and yes, I love the side story arc thing! I mean, it's the exact thing that made the EU so satisfying back in the day, and indeed the sort of thing I tend to enjoy most in fanfic. So, yay! (And a female protagonist again! Disney seems to be reading the same blogs as I do! ;))

Meh, Star Wars is really not my fandom, and this is just some sort of prequel, not the next in the Continuing Saga, so no surprise that I hadn't heard of it till now. But sure, I'll go see it a time or two when it comes around - it looks fun, which is what Star Wars is all about, and I like the young protagonist, Can't-Miss Starmockerjay: "This is a rebellion, isn't it? I rebel." Whatcha bet she turns out to have been Rey's mother?

In other news: The Tatooine Cycle (https://headofdonnbo.wordpress.com/2015/12/10/the-tatooine-cycle/): a retelling of Star Wars, Episode IV: A New Hope as a medieval Irish epic. Enjoy!

Heh, you're my flist contact for info on American politics, not Star Wars. So you're excluded from the disappointment.

It does look like fun! Heh, I didn't actually consider that, but you're right, there are certain parallels between Space Katniss and Rey...

Bwahahahah, this is really brilliant! Thank you for the link.

You're welcome! I adore the great wolfhound Cu Bhacca!

*sighs* Alas that I should have to be so caught up in politics, and have so little time to write about anything else - it's not my favorite special interest, by a long shot; it's just the most urgent one right now.

As for me, I guess we could discover alien civilization, and I wouldn't know about it - past 10 days have been so busy... *thud*

That sucks. (Unless it was the good kind of being busy!) Sorry you've had so much to do!

You didn't hear it from me, because I really don't care that much about Star Wars. Havn't ven seen Episode VII yet.

Well, the complaint was obviously directed at the Star Wars fans, who normally post about new stuff at once. You're exculpated ;)

Just on the off chance that I can avoid a repeat: you did see the new trailer for Fantastic Beasts (and where to find them), yes?

NOOOO! I didn't even know there was an old trailer! Or a dramatisation of Fantastic Beasts!
Thank you for the headsup, I'm gonna dig for it now!
