アノー ?!

The old man living in the flat above ours is losing points rapidly. Right now, he's cutting off all his (quite beautiful) geraniums (of which, so far, he was quite proud) and throwing them along with their flower-pots and the metal parts mounting the pots to the balcony railing down into the yard. Whatever reason he's doing it for, I don't see it.

Der alte Mann, der in der Wohnung über uns wohnt, verliert immer mehr Punkte. Momentan schneidet er gerade alle seine (schönen) Geranien (auf die er bisher so stolz war) ab und schmeißt sie, zusammen mit den Balkonkästen und deren Metallhalterungen, auf den Hof. Warum auch immer er das macht, ich habe keinerlei Verständnis dafür.

I'm afraid they're past saving. He really cut them off, not merely threw them out of their pots, so they have no roots or anything left. All I could have done is pick some and put them in a vase, hoping some of them might develop new roots. But by now, he's scooped them all up and thrown them into the garbage. That asshole.

I hate it when people get rid of plants like they were useless objects >:( They're alive too! And they have other important purposes besides making your place look nice.

I hate it too. And I hate it even more when the reason isn't even something halfway rational, but something like "No one values my work and if I have to do everything on my own, I don't do it at all" at the cost of all those beautiful flowers.
(I think I'm going out tonight to take some of them out of the garbage; not that it'll help much, but just for the heck of it.)
