I'm bored, I got another four day-reprieve for my term paper, if I hear 'innateness hypothesis' again today, I'm going to throw up, so instead, we're going for diversion.

Which means it's même time. Snatched from [livejournal.com profile] elenbarathi:

~ Scan my interest list and pick out the one that seems the most odd to you.
~ Comment and ask for explanation.
~ I’ll explain it.
~ Then you post this in your journal so other people can ask you about your interests.

Go for it. That goes for my secret lj-less readers, too *pointed looks at Jörg and Flo*.
Otherwise, I'm going to desecrate Noam Chomsky's grave. If he's dead already, anyway. If he isn't, I will make him so. Or force him to write my paper.

PS: Did you know that when you follow the Bush's family tree back to the 16th century, you'll find that John F. Kerry is a distant cousin of George W. Bush? Disturbing.

Then again, if you go back far enough, you can link 95% of the European and African population (and quite a lot of Americans, since most of them came from Europe or Africa some way or another) to exactly 7 women. Now if only all of Fëanor's sons had been married, the possibilities, the possibilities...

Mir ist langweilig, ich konnte meine Hausarbeitsabgabe nochmal vier Tage verschieben, wenn ich heute nochmal 'innateness hypothesis' höre, kotze ich, also will ich jetzt Ablenkung.

Was bedeutet, hier kommt ein Même.

Ah, that's from here (http://www.homestarrunner.com/sbemail58.html). Utterly pointless, and thus, utterly loveable. Well, not loveable. But part of what I love about the web is the great amount of love put into totally pointless stuff, and Trogdor the Burninator is kind of an epitome of that...

Most excellent link! Thank you so much!

Ohhh.... *gasps*... ohhmy...!!! *hearts TROGDOR, dies of burninatin' love*

ROFL, now I want to go wake up my kidling and turn HER on to this. Worth my very life to do that this early on a Saturday, though - the girl sleeps with her knives - so I will just have to wait. And while I'm waiting: have you heard The Lords of the Rhymes (http://www.lordsoftherhymes.com/)...??? Man, they so fly...

*wonders in sleep-deprived scholar-geek fashion whether or not it's still hip groovy rad l33t to say things are "so fly" (and also whether that spelling of "l33t" is archaic yet)*

You're surely welcome! I love the House of Finwe; they're my all-time favorite dysfunctional fictional family (the House of Groan is second-favorite.)

Ooooh grrlfriend... you haven't yet read the Gormenghast trilogy (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0879516283/104-0560909-7583145)...???? If there are any books in all the world worthy to stand next to Tolkien's, it's Mervyn Peake's tale of the doomed House of Groan.

I haven't! Doom on me!

I'll put it on my reading list and get to it as soon as I'm through will all the other books on there, I promise!

LOL, save it for a time when you're prepared to be utterly sucked in, because that's what this tale will do to you. I've read it time and time again, and still, if I so much as open it, I'm right back in the shadowy corridors and vast empty roof-scapes of Gormenghast Castle, and have to read the whole thing once more.

Oh Eru. That's sort of complicated.
Ooook.
If you do something terribly embarassing unintentionally (such as walking into a Japanese house with your shoes on, or asking someone whose wife has just died how she is, or something like that - is that what you would say "to put your foot in your mouth" for?), then in Germany, we say that you stepped into the Fettnäpfchen (i.e., the fat pot. Don't ask me where that term comes from, I just don't know.)
Anyway, because I have a great talent in doing this (I used to step into EVERY metaphorical fat pot - right now I sometimes miss one), I used to joke that I come with extra-good Fettnäpfchen marksmanship. So that's where that comes from. It's like saying I basically run around with my foot in my mouth, or something.

Gah. Is that understandable? *frowns*

Whoa... you have blown my mind. Now I will spend all afternoon making weird connections and massive family trees.

Now onto your même:
pixel liberation front ¿¿¿¿¿?????

Hah! That is from the good old days when Pirates of the Carribean was in the cinemas.
Now to understand this, you have to know that I'm the kind of person who wants to see the whole entire movie. Which means, everything including the end credits. Pirates of the Carribean was particularily satisfying in the end credit department, not only because it has two or three people named Rohan working on it, but also because, towards the end when the special effects companies are listed, among these companies is the "pixel liberation front". (They worked on Finding Nemo, too.)
I just love the name. The idea of a pixel liberation front is so brilliant I can't help but love it. It's... I dunno, it makes me think of two things: The Matrix and Hermione's Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare. Which is a damn weird combintion, satisfying my inner geek, and thus gained a place on my interests list.

Hahahahaha... three people named Rohan on it? That's amazing. And yes, Pixel Liberation Front is indeed a good name now that you explain the origin ;)
