I was unable to update yesterday and I enjoyed this wonderful country's hospitality so many times and I have lots of nice relatives there and I just plain like it, I'll just write all this today. So there. Let's see whether I can trick LJ into believing I wrote this on July 1st.
Happy belated Canada Day!
"I'm not a lumberjack or a fur trader.
And I don't live in an igloo or eat blubber or own a dog sled.
And I don't know Jimmy, Sally or Suzie from Canada, even though I am certain they are really, really nice.
I have a Prime Minister, not a President; I speak English and French, not American; and I pronounce it 'about', not 'a boot'.
I can proudly sew my country's flag on my backpack; I believe in peacekeeping, not policing; diversity, not assimilation; and that the beaver is a truly proud and noble animal.
A toque is a hat, a chesterfield is a couch, and it is pronounced 'zed'. Not 'zee', 'zed'.
Canada is the second-largest land mass, the first nation of hockey and the best part of North America.
My name is Joe, and I am Canadian."
For those who don't know (so, I guess, everybody): This was a beer commercial (for Molson Canadian). It also plays with the standard clichees US-Americans have about Canadians and the fact that Canadians never really seem to have developped some sort of national pride as their southern neighbors have. This commercial was, even though it was for evil, evil alcohol, discussed in schools (especially in "Canadian Identity" class *g*). And I just plain thought it was cool.
Anyway - GO CANADA!!!

EDIT: It worked *g*
