So I'm back. Yay. Although this was a very nice holiday, a bit more relaxed than the last few, and my little cousins are soooo cute. Although they can get a bit annoying at times, especially Ricardo with his unceasing questions. "Why did Voldemort open the Chamber of Secrets? Why is Frodo the Ring-bearer? Why did the rat betray Harry's parents? Why is Sauron's soul bound to the ring? What is the spell to conjure a Patronus? Why don't they just throw the Ring into the ocean? What happens in the fifth book? What happened before the Lord of the Rings?"
Honestly, now I know why I read books and watch movies more than just once. Just so I can answer a four-year-old's questions. Although I'm not entirely sure whether the contents of The Order of the Phoenix or the Silmarillion are the right thing for someone who isn't even old enough to see the first Harry Potter movies...
Alessio was scary sometimes. When he opened his eyes widely and grinned, he looked like Gollum. And as far as beyblades or Yu-Gi-Oh cards are concerned, that child has Feanor's temper.

I also know that it was not a good idea to offer to read OotP for the five of them. First off, it's freaking difficult to read a book in English and translate the text into German simultaneously. Besides, I now started to have weird dreams about dark corridors and locked doors.

The cathedral of Pisa looks like Mandos' halls.
And the Leaning Tower is not leaning as much as it did when I saw it the last time. I'm quite sure of that. And people were allowed to go up again. I wanted to, but when we arrived, there were only tickets left for the 9 pm acension, and we had to drive back two hours anyway, so it didn't work. I saw the Palio in Siena, though. Fascinating. Here, LARP is something for freaks. In the medieval-looking towns of Tuscany, it's something the whole town takes part in. It wasn't even the "real" Palio, which is held on July 2nd and August 16th, but the pre-Palio. Actually, if that was only the rehearsal, I don't want to know about the atmosphere at the actual event. There were enough almost-fights and enmities as it was. I heard that sometime in the 12th century, there was such a bad fight after the Palio that the six contrade (the different sections of Siena) that were most involved were shut down and banned from the Palio forever. Their banners are still presented during the Palio, though, but you can't buy them anymore - which was sad, because Timo wanted a flag of the Contrada della Vipera, because it would make such a good Slytherin flag.
Anyway, absolutely fascinating.

The last night, there was a big toad in my youngest cousin's bed. I found it when I wanted to photograph the English children from next door who had dressed up as ghosts, and instead I found that giant toad. I brought it out of the house, and at once the English kids were de-ghosted. One wanted to throw stones at it, one wanted to have it for dinner. I forbade both. "But what about its legs? It doesn't need those..." One girl touched it and jumped back with a shrill cry. "It's disgusting!" Don't know about that - it wasn't slimy or anything. Eventually I placed it under some bushes, so the kids would leave it alone, poor thing.
We also found three tiny scorpions in the house within two weeks.

I managed to draw some more Valar. I'm working at Este right now, so that leaves only two more afterwards. Yay.
I also tried to draw some scenes from OotP and the Narn i hín Húrin. To speak with Lupin, I failed dismally. But oh well, it still was fun.

And now I am threatened by Oda Nobunaga. And several other stuff having to do with my Japanese studies. And I don't have a car for a week because now my brother is off to visit the five boys and their mother. Gnah.

Since yesterday, I'm back to a cool place. Temperature-wise. Since yesterday evening, it'S even raining. Finally, finally, finally.

And I really don't know what to do about Jörg.
