Suddenly and really unexpected, Frodo the guinea-pig died today. I don't know why - yesterday he was still fine as far as I know, and this morning he behaved like always, and when I wanted to put him and Sam outside, I heard him making weird retching and gasping sounds, and then he went altogether silent and limp and heavy. He was quite young, not even two years old. I'll bury him tonight.
Poor Sam. He always panics when he's left alone for more than a few minutes. Now he'll have to get used to it.
