Meet the Parents
May. 23rd, 2004 05:22 pmAfter trying to brush up the last bits that had to be done in our flat, today Jörg and I dare an experiment: We have our respective parents meet each other (and present the results of our work here to my parents - Jörg's mother has helped us all the time, so she knows it all).
I'm nervous, I can tell you. My parents, or rather, my mother, tends to be really, really embarrassing on critical occasions, and I have the vague fear that this might be critical.
My dad isn't quite as dangerous, as long as no-one makes him think this is in any way formal (when things are formal, he tries to be extra-jovial, and not only isn't that convincing, but it's also beside the point). Surprisingly enough, it's my brother who hardly makes me worry: He knows how to behave on such events, although he doesn't know how to behave at home.

Shouldn't have watched Pride and Prejudice. Something to really make you worry about embarassing mothers.
