On the Road Again
Oct. 17th, 2004 10:06 pmBack from Veldenz. Like always, it was wonderful. Like always, I didn't get enough sleep.
Only just finished eating, because even though we left Veldenz around 1:30 pm, I only settled back here one and a half hours ago - first I dropped Aditu (
tzaaihta) off in Deutz, which was surprisingly difficult because I still manage to get lost in Cologne and the roads were full anyway; and because Conny had refused to take Cele back for complicated reasons, I took her back as well. We went to my home first, so I could at least talk to Jörg for a second; and kind soul that he is, he drove to Gronau then, for which I am infinitely grateful because I would probably have fallen asleep on the road on my way back alone. He even knew the place, having had a grandmother who owned a pub there. Deepest Westphalia.
kaneda, we passed Rhede on our way. Also passed Metelen, where my mom and her family lived for a short time of her childhood.
I am not going to discuss the reasonability of driving an extra 300 kms vs. driving where you're going anyway with four persons instead of three, even if those four and their luggage are maybe sitting less comfortable than they would if they were three (though that wouldn't concern the driver anyway) and even if you have not been forewarned in written form and triplicated. Just sayin'.
And a more complete account of the time in Veldenz is going to be posted tomorrow. I promise. But I'm too tired for that now.
All power and glory to Fëanor's Heirs.
Lyra off.
