So I went to see Elizabeth: The Golden Age.

It was fun as long as people were talking English (because Spanish with Japanese subtitles is a wee bit hard to follow, and as for the German... well let's say that it's ok if an English Queen pronounces the language poorly, even if it's probably not realistic - but an Austrian Archduke should not sound American, thank you, fail, I really don't know how that can be done so badly if otherwise they pay so much attention to all kinds of details) and as long as they didn't try another artistic camera angle through some veil or bar or broken architecture or foggy lense.

I have to say, though, that Cate Blanchett of all people standing on a precipice and looking at a fleet of distant burning ships with a mixture of sadness and wild glee in her eyes is priceless. PRICELESS, I SAY.

I think the Japanese around me didn't really get the Papist vs. Anglican thing.

EDIT: I just now remember that there was a guy in the end credits, Clive Owen's Driver, by the name of LOL SMITH.
To which I can really just say... LOL.

LOL.

Okay, now I want to see the movie just because of that moment. :D

Of course you do.
She is wearing a white dress too. With long fluttery sleeves. Short hair though.
:D

Well, that could easily be photomanipulated into long hair. I think I want an icon now. ;)

Hahahaha! I love your entry title *geek*

I don't speak German so I can't tell the accent thing. As for the Spanish... I can't stand Spain Spanish accent XD for some weird reason. But I really liked the movie, being a fan of the first one AND a Cate fan. Yet I feel it lacked something... It was a bit too artistic for my taste and more plot was missing. Although I would definitely kill for any of her dresses :P

I agree. I felt that somehow the movie spent ages doing nothing (at least it was pretty nothing) and spreading very little plot over a fairly long time. When the climax (of the story I mean) finally came it was awesome, but it took too long to get there and was over too fast.

Wasn't Cate Blanchett absolutely awesome though?
And I totally agree about the dresses.

Heh, you not liking the accent makes sense if you've grown up with a completely different one. So how is it different? Harder? More drawling?

Cate Blanchett was amazing, as usual.

About the accent, I think Spanish accent is harsh, especially on the "s" and "j". And there is something about pronouncing "s" like "sh" and "c/z" like "th" that just unnerves me XD

My thoughts exactly, and let's not forget about the armor XD

The armour and the rousing speech, oh yes!

Then again let's not forget about the part without clothing either. Dead queens should not be allowed to be so sexy.
