Spoilers, namely: Therefore cut for those who want to see the movie unspoiled. Also for those who couldn't care less about Harry Potter.

If neither applies to you:

Well, today I met up with my two co-presentators for the first Anthro presentation on "Museums and Memory". I thought we'd assign texts, plan ahead, work on it, that sort of thing. Well, we sort of did.
First off, what I hate about presentations is the meeting-up part. Someone unlucky has to host that and bear unmotivated (or, worse, overly motivated) students hanging around in their flat, staring at their decorations and furniture and being all curious while never being able to ask questions, because, after all, they're there to work. Visiting people you'd never visit if you hadn't ended up in the same presentation group because you really don't know them is an awkward thing, and the work is always done at home anyway, so these meetings are usually unfruitful and merely conscience-soothers.
Anna, our host, had planned to counter that awkwardness by starting the whole thing off with a nice breakfast. So we ate. And ate. And read an evil article about how people who drink coffee and smoke are better friends than non-smokers who drink tea. Anita and I were highly amused by a pamphlet of the APPD (the Anarchist Pogo Party, which is actually elegible, though I doubt anyone in their right minds would vote for them). Since they had Star Wars posters all over the place (when you entered their flat, first thing you saw was a cardboard Han Solo standee), we talked about Star Wars. And Troy. And photos of parties long past on the walls. And cooking. And university in general. And life, the universe and everything.
But we did assign texts, yes. Now we are to work on them and share the results on Sunday. And after the presentation, we'll watch Lilo and Stitch together.
Sometimes meeting up with co-presentators can be fruitful after all.

Apparently, there are four ways for me to judge movies.

The first is, I love them right away and love them forever: Such as Star Wars: A New Hope, or The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

Then there are movies I dislike right away and I'll never like those: Such as Pearl Harbour, or Matrix: Reloaded.

There are those I like right away, view them again and like them less and less the next times: Such as Spider-man, or Matrix: Revolutions.

Finally, there are those that disappoint me when I see them first, but when I see them again, they grow on me until I find myself liking them: Such as The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, or Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

The latter I just returned from, and I'm still at a loss what made me love it now. Maybe it just was the language. This night it was German (dubbed alright, but translated sloppily), while now it was English. The English is much, much better, of course; but I wonder if that is all. Maybe it is that now I knew what was changed and what was missing, so I didn't sit there half the time going "Wait-" or "WTF?", but could enjoy the story and the telling.
Whatever it is - there we go. I won't go making a long list again. I'll just say that Remus and Sirius seriously rock. But I still think they should have mentioned the Marauders, because even my boyfriend who read the book back in the past said something about modern footsteps on a medieval map, and was fairly surprised when I reminded him that the map came from about the 1970s.

Oh, and the credits are just adorable.
