Et tu, Brute?
Mar. 15th, 2005 04:46 pmO piteous spectacle!
O noble Cæsar!
O woeful day!
O traitors, villains!
O most bloody sight!
Doing the laundry, I ran into the sheet of steel we have in the cellar for my armour with my right hand. Not just into the sheet either, but into the upper corner. I was holding the basket with laundry, which is why I didn't see it. Felt it, though. Gargh. I now have a triangle-shaped cut at the base of my right index finger. Good thing it was the dark-and-colourful laundry so if any of my blood accidentally got onto the laundry, it'll probably go undetected...
Just noticed that on my list of whacky holidays, I forgot the Ides of March. Oh well, can still add them today. In celebration of the Ides of March, so to say.
An actual reason for celebration is that it's actually 13°C outside and the snow is finally melting and revealing the first crocuses (croci? crocûs? crocoi?)... Alas, day before yesterday we loaded the car with our baggage, watching the sunrise over the Hottentots Holland Mountains, in 22°C warm air. Alas, alas.
My brother has returned from New York and says it's hot here. I don't want to know what kind of weather he had there. I should have made a wager with my mother: She said he'd never write a postcard, I said he would. He did. He also brought me a Foxtrot collection and "more souvenirs" which are yet in the depths of his suitcase. Which is embarassing because I don't have a gift for him from South Africa. Bad Lyra. Maybe I'll give him my ostrich cup, then (last year he got an ostrich egg, so he may just as well start a collection of all things ostrich). Altogether, he was really happy with his journey, told me some anecdotes and adventures, showed me the newest Star Wars trailer (which looks good, if only the film turns out like the trailer...), that he has ten hours of film about his vacation, and then fell into bed. He has seen The Gates, been to the cinema at least 5 times, seen the Lion King musical and generally spent a fortune.
Probably tomorrow I'll hear from my mom that he never told her anything about how it was...
Something must have been bad about the plane food, because after having gotten healthy through the holidays, Jörg and I both got diarrhoea and stomach aches on Sunday evening. Ngah. Evil fettucine.

What the...?
Mar. 15th, 2005 11:02 pm( That Alcohol Test )
Okay, I swear I have no idea how that could happen. Yes, I do enjoy the occasional glass(es) of wine and, sometimes, cocktails; but on at least four fifths of those questions I just wildly guessed. Now I wonder whether the "Think less, guess more" tactic would work on exams, too.
