Fine. I deleted yesterday's rant, but today, it's going on air. Let there be Drama.

"It really sucks when a canon character, particularly a major one, is OOC."

Which totally doesn't apply to at least half the characters, even the major ones in their respective canons, on DF. Oh, no. Of course not. Especially not those your puppets like to interact with. Or those of your clique. Never.

"And the way she treats people that she should respect-"

Whom, please?

"The worst example was the dog-petting thing, really"

And that is necessarily OOC? Because someone who tries to convert people's way of treating house-elves would never ever tell them how to treat animals? Sorry, I don't get it.

"If we're thinking of the same person, then she hadn't even read the bloody books when she joined."

Has our dearly beloved Eöl- and Saeros-typist ever read the Silm? Just asking. Or did she just need every possible reminder about the character because it's so far in the past and she can't remember anything?
Would you swear that all of our LesMis muns have actually read the book/s, or don't you think one or two might just be running on the musical and/or one of the many movies?

By the way: She had.

"...especially about her trying to break the magical rules of the universe."

PROVE. IT.

Seriously? The last thing one needs are immature, inane, selfish teenagers, who stick only to the rules they like or made up themselves, who're incapable of getting their own lives sorted out and wine about not being respected when they've done nothing to deserve respect, telling them what to do.

And let me just add something entirely for myself, because I've been swallowing it for far too long:
YOUR. PRESETS. ARE. NOT. FUNNY. ANYMORE. They were never really funny, and now that the amusement has worn off, they're really just annoying.
The same goes for the Eruawful "your mom" joke, which wasn't even funny when I was in kindergarten and CERTAINLY shouldn't be funny amongst people who have been out of kindergarten for a while.
Also for "O RLY", but that's not your fault alone, so I'll let that pass.
Anyway, rule of thumb - and listen up now, because this might be important:
Passing fads are only funny as long as they gracefully pass when their time to die has come at last.

You know what? Excuse my Middle English, but FUCK YOU.

Well, I wasn't expecting a boom today when I posted that comment, but apparently it did boom.

I'll be glad, like you did, to tell people exactly what I think of them to their face; and (are they reading this? of course they are, it's draaamaaah) I agree with you. The running jokes have run their course. The immaturity in OOC is irritating. Unfortunately, to get nearly any play in-character, one must associate with the players OOC, and to be honest I didn't join the game to make friends. Friends were a side benefit. But not everyone has to be my friend; but they don't recognize an IC/OOC divide either.

Actually, I agree too. I find myself growing frustrated frequently because when I offer up pups for play, only the people who are my friends will play.

And it's really nice that these things only get brought up when there's wangst, isn't it?

I haven't wanted to play with your characters for months in chat. Most of what you have are not what I joined the game to play with, and I couldn't figure out how to interact with your others.

Well, you brought the wangst all on your own.

Which is fair enough. No one has to play with my characters, after all. I just think it's ridiculous to complain about cliques when hardly anyone offers to break free from them.

Mea culpa. Not complaining about wangst, I'm complaining about inefficiency.

I generally offer my puppets to everyone. I'm not willing to be the only one that comes up with potential plots or conversation topics, however, so usually it ends with the offer (which is ignored most of the time anyway, but oh well.)
If someone randomly wants to throw a pup at one of mine, you'll find that I won't refuse - unless there's a good reason. I suppose I might not be willing to throw ickle Lyra to Acheron, for example...

We certainly agree on that part.

Yes. Do you know why that is? Of course I can only speak for myself, but in general, I believe in keeping my peeves and annoyances to myself (or, at any rate, just bitching about them to friends whom I won't annoy with them) because I'm afraid of causing wangst and drama. If, however, the wangst is already happening - and moreover turning against things that don't bother me much or at all - I'll gladly throw my baggage into the play. Perhaps it reminds people that they're no saints either. Or they'll just feel attacked unreasonably and complain that I didn't bring that up until there was trouble. Either way, I don't want to cause drama, but if it's happening anyway, I can damn well join in.

We certainly appear to be of one mind here.

I guess I just got tired of stuff being strained to the breaking point and decided to be the "brave" or "bitchy" one-- potato, potatoh-- and just break it myself.

Except that it had been breaking already anyway. Nobody's surprised. Your post just turned it from a small dirty squabble to a big dirty war. *sighs*

Yes, it did indeed. I hadn't read that BRPS post yet when I wrote yesterday's rant. If I had, it would've stayed there.

I'm glad, actually, to keep my opinion to myself or bitch only to a few friends who I know will understand. Normally.
And yes, that's one of the main problems. That, and the difficulty of getting any play at all, with or without OOC contact.

I think it's funny that I got about as much play when I was on hiatus than I did when I was off. Go figure.

I'm sorry to spread all this grade-D irritation to your comments, too, but I'm irritated as well. I shouldn't have had that hater-ade for breakfast.
